Why California is different

California's privacy and security requirements are detailed. Our team handles them, so you don't have to.

Running a business in California comes with a few extra responsibilities. The CCPA was the country's first comprehensive consumer privacy law. The CPRA expanded it. SB 446 shortened the breach-notification window to 30 days starting January 2026. The California Privacy Protection Agency runs its own enforcement docket, and recent settlements have reached seven figures.

On top of that, many California businesses also work with HIPAA (healthcare), CMMC (the defense supply chain from El Segundo to San Diego), or PCI (retail and hospitality). It's a lot to keep track of, especially for a small or mid-sized team.

That's where AdVran comes in. Our SOC team keeps an eye on your environment, our compliance team keeps the paperwork an auditor would expect, and our help desk takes care of the day-to-day. You focus on serving your customers. We focus on the rest.

AdVran HQ. The strongest cluster for tech, life sciences, and aerospace in the region.

Home to Irvine's tech corridor, Anaheim's hospitality and manufacturing base, and a fast-growing biotech footprint along the 405. Orange County had the SCAG region's lowest unemployment rate in 2025 and ranks second in new building permits.

Riverside County

The Inland Empire's logistics, manufacturing, and healthcare backbone.

Stretching from Corona and the I-15 corridor through Riverside, Moreno Valley, and out to the desert. Job growth slowed in 2025 versus prior years, but distribution, healthcare, and warehousing remain anchor industries that depend on always-on IT.

Manufacturing and logistics scale, plus the largest county by area in the U.S.

Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, Redlands, and Upland anchor the Inland Empire West. Manufacturing exporters and Defense Logistics Agency suppliers here often face CMMC pressure and aging on-prem infrastructure that needs modern security wrapped around it.

Defense, biotech, and one of the country's densest cybersecurity clusters.

Carlsbad, Chula Vista, El Cajon, Escondido, and Oceanside surround a downtown that hosts Naval Base San Diego, Qualcomm, Illumina, and a dense network of cleared defense contractors. CMMC, NIST 800-171, and ITAR are everyday compliance contexts here.

5cities served

Agriculture, defense (Naval Base Ventura County), and steady professional services.

Camarillo, Oxnard, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, and the Santa Clara River Valley. Modest job growth in 2025, but stable demand from defense contractors, ag-tech, and the wealth-management practices spread across the 101 corridor.

Wine, hospitality, university research, and aerospace at Vandenberg.

Carpinteria, Goleta, and Santa Barbara form a small but high-value market. Aerospace and defense work at Vandenberg Space Force Base, plus UCSB's research economy, creates demand for compliance-grade managed services.

Why local matters

A local team that understands your business and your neighborhood.

1

Familiar with California's rules

Our compliance team works with CCPA, CPRA, and the CPPA's expectations every day. So when your auditor asks a California-specific question, we already have the answer ready.

2

Closer help, faster

From Anaheim, we can be on-site across most of Southern California the same day. For urgent incidents, we engage within minutes, any hour of the day.

3

Vendors who pick up the phone

We work directly with Microsoft, Palo Alto, SentinelOne, Datto, and the local partners we know personally. Real names, not a 1-800 escalation chain.

4

Engineering discipline at the core

Founder Adrian Monges Rodriguez is a computer engineer who managed complex network infrastructure at Boeing on projects with NASA and other defense and aerospace organizations. That same care for systems and documentation is what AdVran brings to your IT.

Common questions

What California businesses ask before signing.

Don't see yours? Call (714) 694-4573 or email contact@advran.com.

Does AdVran serve businesses across all of California? +

AdVran serves Southern California: Orange County, Los Angeles County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, San Diego County, Ventura County, and Santa Barbara County. The Anaheim headquarters lets us reach client sites across the SCAG region efficiently. We do not currently serve the Bay Area, the Central Valley north of Bakersfield, or far Northern California.

How does AdVran help California businesses comply with CCPA and CPRA? +

AdVran builds the technical backbone CCPA and CPRA require: data inventory and classification, access controls tied to consumer rights requests, vendor risk management, breach detection through our 24/7 SOC, and the audit logs the California Privacy Protection Agency expects to see. The CPPA's largest 2025 settlement was $1.35 million against Tractor Supply, and the AG's Healthline settlement reached $1.55 million the same year. AdVran clients get the controls and evidence trail to avoid being on that list.

What changed for California data breach notifications in 2026? +

California SB 446 took effect January 1, 2026. Businesses now have 30 calendar days to notify affected California residents after discovering a breach, and 15 days to notify the Attorney General when more than 500 residents are affected. AdVran's incident response retainer is built around those timelines, including forensic scoping, regulator notice drafting, and SOC documentation that supports the required disclosures.

Why do California businesses need a local MSP instead of a national one? +

California's regulatory stack (CCPA, CPRA, SB 446, CMIA for healthcare, plus federal frameworks) is denser than most states. National MSPs run playbooks designed for a 50-state median. AdVran is built for California first, which means our compliance posture, vendor relationships, and on-site response radius are all tuned for Southern California businesses.

What does managed IT typically cost for a California small business? +

AdVran prices per user, per month, with tiers based on coverage depth: managed IT only, managed IT plus SOC monitoring, or managed IT plus SOC plus full compliance program management. Most Southern California clients between 25 and 200 employees land between $125 and $275 per user per month all-in. The exact number depends on regulated industry overhead (healthcare, defense, financial services) and on-site support frequency. Get a quote at advran.com/contact.

Does AdVran handle CMMC compliance for California defense contractors? +

Yes. California is home to one of the largest defense industrial bases in the country, including primes and subs across Orange, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Ventura counties. AdVran builds and maintains CMMC Level 2 environments with the technical controls, GCC High tenant configuration where required, SSP and POA&M documentation, and continuous monitoring needed for assessment readiness.

What size California business is the right fit for AdVran? +

AdVran is built for California businesses between roughly 20 and 500 employees. Below 20, the math on a full managed program rarely works. Above 500, internal IT teams typically lead and AdVran fits as a co-managed partner for SOC, compliance, and overflow. Founder Adrian Monges Rodriguez is a computer engineer who managed complex network infrastructure at Boeing on projects with NASA and other defense and aerospace organizations before founding AdVran, so the team is comfortable with both ends of that range.

How fast can AdVran respond to an incident in Southern California? +

P1 critical incidents (system-down or active intrusion) get a five-minute engagement target, 24/7/365. Median ticket response across all priorities runs under 12 minutes. From the Anaheim headquarters, on-site response anywhere from Santa Barbara through San Diego is same-day in most cases.
